Booking a secure field
- Search tab → Dog fields. Two ways in:
- Browse fields: enter your postcode and a radius.
- Find a slot: add a date and time window to only see fields with availability then.
- Results show as cards (photo, price from, distance). Every field is hired solo, so a slot you book is yours alone. Or switch to the Map view to see price pins near you. Tap a pin and a little card appears at the bottom of the map with View & book and Directions, which opens the Google Maps app with turn-by-turn to the venue (this works on every search map). On a desktop-width browser there's no switch: the results sit on the left with the map alongside on the right, and the map stays in view as you scroll the list (this applies to every search that has a map). Listing pages spread out on desktop too: photos and details on the left with the booking panel alongside on the right, like booking a hotel (every service works this way).
- Tap a field to see photos, price, cancellation policy, and a calendar to pick your day. Days with availability are marked with a dot; days that are full or closed are greyed out and can't be chosen; use the arrows to look ahead to another month. Choose a day and its available time slots appear below. (Every service uses this same calendar to pick a day, and boarding uses it to pick your check-in and check-out.) Like the place? Tap the ♥ heart next to the title to save the provider as a favourite. Favourites show a red heart in search results and float to the top, and every listing you've saved is listed under Account → Favourite providers. (The heart works the same on walker, grooming, boarding and training pages.)
- Pick a slot, choose how many dogs you're bringing, and tick the box agreeing to leave the field clean and tidy. Some fields charge one price per session; others price by the number of dogs (for example up to 2 dogs, up to 4 dogs, and a dog-walker rate for larger groups). The price card lists the rates, the dog picker shows the price next to each option, and the Book button shows what you'll pay for the number you chose. If the listing offers Optional extras (add-on products the provider sells, like a shampoo wash or a bag of treats), tick any you want: their price is added to your total and paid with the booking. Extras appear on most booking forms across all services; weekly walk series book without them.
- Tap Book to go straight to a secure card payment (Stripe). The total includes the provider's price plus a small flat DogBookings booking fee (shown on the listing before you book: £1 for a field, up to £5 for a boarding stay). You have 30 minutes to complete it; the slot is held for you meanwhile. Some listings take a deposit rather than the full price: checkout shows the deposit amount and saves your card, and the remaining balance is taken from it automatically about two days before your booking (you get a receipt email; if the card is declined we email you a secure pay link instead). This applies to every service type.
- After payment:
- Most bookings then wait for the provider to confirm, which is usually quick, and it's an automatic full refund if they can't take you.
- Once paid, the gate access instructions appear on your booking, along with a Directions button that opens Google Maps with turn-by-turn to the venue (on every venue-based service; home visits don't have one, because the provider comes to you).
- On the day: your booking (with gate instructions) is on the Bookings tab, and it works offline once loaded, useful at a field gate with no signal.
After your visit
- Field report (private): under Report a problem on the booking, tell the provider about repairs needed or if the field was left in a state by the previous booking. Only the provider sees this, and it only exists on field bookings.
- Review (public): you have 14 days; the provider reviews you too, and neither side sees the other's words until both are in.
